The zdi networks and student laboratories again had a wide range of hands-on activities and holiday courses to offer this summer. The focus was not only on sustainability issues, the theme of the Science Year 2023 "Our Universe" was also taken up at many locations. In this review, we show a small selection from the wide range of zdi activities.
How is enthusiasm for sustainability reflected in the holiday courses? How can current scientific trends be implemented in an understandable way? And how do art and design find their way into STEM education? In the zdi holiday summer 2022 series, we would like to go into more detail.
The zdi networks are again offering countless MINT courses during the summer holidays this year. Most of them can take place face-to-face again, but there are also digital offers. This year's zdi motto RE•use | RE•duce | RE•cycle – making new from old can be found in many of the courses.
During the zdi summer holidays 2021, students were able to attend over 300 MINT holiday courses and workshops from the zdi community.
Within 4 weeks, zdi organizes one of the largest MINT summer holiday offers in Germany in Düsseldorf.
Bee deaths, rural exodus or environmental pollution - 15 third and fourth grade students are addressing these and other challenges of the future at the "Life in the Future" holiday workshop.
These summer holidays are certainly a very special experience for most students, teachers, lecturers and parents. The Corona crisis completely paralyzed the second half of the year in schools and extracurricular learning locations. Slowly there are more and more loosening in North Rhine-Westphalia, from which the zdi community is also benefiting. Some regions organize interesting online and face-to-face offers. Everything is about programming an app or a 2D printing basic course, hands-on experiments or escape room technology.
