Pupils become media professionals

During the project week at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gesamtschule Grevenbroich, 14 students were trained to become media experts. In the course of the zdi network Rhein-Kreis Neuss, the ninth graders were able to shoot an image video about the training as an electrical engineer. The young people not only had the camera in their own hands, but were also responsible for directing, sound engineering and editing.

District administrator Hans-Jürgen Petrauschke experienced during his visit to the workshop that they were very committed to the task. "It is important to us to teach young people modern skills and abilities," said the district administrator. "Through the zdi program, we are not only promoting professional orientation in the scientific and technical field, but also the media skills of future specialists."

Light, camera, action: an image film by young people for young people

The day of shooting for the image video took place on a construction site of the Neuss company Elektrotechnik Prechters at Schloss Dyck. The project was accompanied by the zdi cooperation partner Neusser Handwerk eV and Stefan Prechters. The head of the company made it possible for one of his trainees to answer all the questions from the students at the Käthe Kollwitz Comprehensive School about the job description of an electrical engineer.

The aim of the project week was to create a training campaign by young people for young people. The young people worked with the technical equipment of a mobile recording studio, among other things. The team of lecturers from the Rapschool NRW accompanied the project. Teacher Anja Seifert was pleased that her students were not only able to get to know the apprenticeship of electrical engineering in this project, but also became fit with media technology.
