Bee bots, blue bots or ozobots - it's not just at the zdi center in Borken that tons of great educational material have been lying unused in the cupboards for weeks. The Borken-based company is now reacting with a creative solution to convey robots and co. to young explorers: they lend their research kits to private households. With great success!
The zdi center Borken district makes dreams of researchers come true. For a week at a time, not only teaching or educational professionals, but also families and young STEM explorers can borrow robots and individual experiment boxes from the research mobile free of charge. The offer is aimed at children and young people between the ages of 5 and 12 and covers a wide range of topics: from robotics and geometry to acoustics and anatomy - there is a lot to discover for young and old researchers.

Normally, Kirsten Vennemann and Veronika Droste drive around with the research vehicle and bring MINT hands-on to schoolchildren directly to the school. Due to the school closures, the two zdi coordinators have rethought and initiated the rental offer. The demand far exceeds the expectations of the two initiators from the zdi center for the district of Borken, which is located under the umbrella of the business development agency for the district of Borken (WfG). The materials are fully booked several weeks in advance.

Due to the effects of the corona pandemic, parents and children are still restricted - also with regard to leisure activities. To prevent the virus from spreading further, families are spending a lot of time at home. It is also important to fill a lot of free time in the approaching summer holidays. The Borken zdi network's rental offer can help here and awaken the interest in research in many children and young people.
